The Gospel Proclaimed to All Nations
Before the end, the message of the Kingdom must be proclaimed.
"And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come."
Matthew 24:14 KJV
Introduction
Jesus declared that “this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come” (Matthew 24:14, KJV). This verse places the proclamation of the Gospel at the heart of His prophetic teaching. It is not merely a prediction to observe; it is a mission entrusted to Christ’s followers.
Within a Pre-Tribulation framework, many interpreters understand this proclamation in relation to the events leading towards the end of the age and the future Tribulation. The verse itself does not define a modern numerical threshold for language coverage, internet access or the percentage of the world that has heard the message.
The Gospel of the Kingdom
Biblical text: Matthew 24:14 speaks of the Gospel of the Kingdom being preached as a witness to all nations.
The Gospel announces God’s reign and His saving work through Jesus Christ. The wider New Testament proclaims Christ’s death for sins, His burial and resurrection, and the call to repentance and faith. Christian mission is not simply the spread of religious information; it is the faithful proclamation of this message and the making of disciples.

A mission rooted in the Old Testament
The Old Testament looks forward to the nations coming to know the Lord. The Psalms call the nations to praise God, while Isaiah describes the Lord’s salvation being made known to the ends of the earth. These passages provide a biblical foundation for the worldwide scope of God’s purposes.
They should be read in their own context and alongside the New Testament’s explicit commission to make disciples of all nations.
Key Scriptures:
Genesis 12:1-3 Psalms 67:1-7 Isaiah 49:6 Isaiah 52:7-10
The Great Commission and the prophetic witness
Biblical text: Matthew 28:18-20 commands Jesus’ disciples to make disciples of all nations. Acts 1:8 describes witness extending from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth.
Revelation also depicts people from every
nation, kindred, people and tongue worshipping God (Revelation 7:9-10). Within
a futurist reading, Revelation includes a further witness during the
Tribulation. These passages show the global scope of the biblical mission,
although they do not all describe one identical moment.
Key Scriptures:
Matthew 28:18-20 Acts 1:8 Revelation 7:9-10 Revelation 14:6-7
Mission is a calling, not just a countdown
Believers can participate through evangelism, translation, prayer, hospitality, discipleship, giving and supporting faithful mission work. The fact that Christ will return does not remove the responsibility to serve people today. Nor should the verse be used to pressure people with invented statistics or to declare the mission complete based on a single unverified estimate.
The central question is how the Church can
faithfully bear witness to Christ among all peoples while remaining truthful,
compassionate and accountable.
